Kia ora!

I'm Mary (they/she): a queer writer, editor, and educator. Born and raised in the swamps of Alabama, I have lived in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa since 2014.

I write fiction, personal essays, articles, and poetry.  I have work published in Rat World, bad apple, Pantograph Punch, The Spin Off, Stuff NZ, Capsule, and elsewhere. In 2022 I won second place Te Tauihu Short Story Contest run by the New Zealand Society of Authors. Most of my writing centres on gender, sexuality, and spirituality.

In 2023 I took over as editor of Overcom Magazine. We are a literary journal that publishes queer art and writing in Aotearoa. I have also worked with bad apple to co-direct  The Showcase, a five night poetry event at Basement Theatre put on by Auckland Pride.

I have a BA in Creative Writing and English from the University of Alabama and an MEd from the University of Auckland.

If you are interested in collaborating, email me at marycmosteller@gmail.com, or see my socials on the "Contact" page.

Ngā mihi mahana,
